Here is an original, unframed pastel portrait (approx 11 x 17) on colored stock, drawn by former, local artist, Fred Eilers, who taught art at The University of Evansville during the 60s, 70s, and 80s.
Most well know for his realistic portraits in oils and pastels, he was a master at defining the highlights and shadows in his work through the use of beautifully administered, pure cool and warm colors that resulted in an almost surrealistic presentation of pure patterned colors to achieve realism.
This work was found in a collection of another former artist and is signed simply with the letters F. E. typical of many of Mr. Eiler's "studio work".
